Installing, Updating, & Deleting

What do I need to play Lexilinea?

You need an iPhone or iPod Touch with iOS 3.1.3 or higher

How do I update Lexilinea? When is an update going to be released?

We do not currently have a schedule of updates.

To check for and download updates, use one of the following methods:

On your iPhone/iPod Touch:

  1. Go to your home screen.
  2. Select App Store.
  3. Select Updates, on the bottom right of the screen. Any updates that are available for your installed apps, including Lexilinea, will be listed.
  4. Either select Update All, or select just Lexilinea (if there is an update for available for the game).
  5. Enter your iTunes password and select OK. The update is downloaded and installed automatically.

The icon will dim and show a progress bar as it updates.

On iTunes

  1. Connect the iPhone/iPod Touch to your computer with your device's USB cable.
  2. Open and log on to your iTunes software
  3. On the left, under Library, select Apps.
  4. At the bottom of the screen, select Check for Updates. If there are updates, a window will appear allowing you to view them.
  5. Choose View Updates. The screen changes to show My App Updates.
  6. On the My App Updates screen, either select Download All Free Updates, or select Get Update for just Lexilinea (if there is an update for available for the game).
  7. On the left, under Library, select your device name.
  8. On the bottom right of the screen, select the Sync button (you might need to scroll down to see it). Allow the device to fully sync before disconnecting it from your computer.

Lexilinea is no longer on my device. Do I need to pay again to reinstall it?

No, you do not need to purchase the game again, just download and reinstall it. To do this:

On your iPhone/iPod Touch:

  1. Go to your home screen.
  2. Select App Store.
  3. Select Search and find Lexilinea.
  4. Tap on the price, and then select Buy Now. You will be informed that you have already purchased the game.
  5. Enter your iTunes password and select OK.
  6. The game will be downloaded and installed automatically, and you will not be charged.

On iTunes

  1. Connect the iPhone/iPod Touch to your computer with your device's USB cable.
  2. Open and log on to your iTunes software.
  3. On the left, under Library, select your device name. Any apps that have been installed at any time are listed. Those that are currently installed are checked.
  4. Find Lexilinea in the list, and check it.
  5. On the bottom right of the screen, select the Sync button (you might need to scroll down to see it). Allow the device to fully sync before disconnecting it from your computer.

I purchased Lexilinea and want to put it on my other Apple devices; do I need to purchase the game again?

No, you do not need to purchase the game again, as long as you are using the same iTunes account for all devices.

To install Lexilinea on your other devices, follow the reinstallation procedure on each device.

I have a new device. Can I transfer my saved games to this device from my old one?

Currently it is not possible to transfer scores from previous games onto a new device. You can, however, (re)install a copy of Lexilinea on the new device and continue playing there, ignoring any games you have already completed. Your Game Center submissions will not be affected.

I have changed carriers. Can I continue to play my game?

Yes. If you have merely changed carriers, and kept the same phone, you should be able to continue without further adjustments.

How can I delete Lexilinea?

To remove Lexilinea:

On your iPhone/iPod Touch:

  1. Touch and hold the Lexilinea icon until all the icons begin to wiggle, and an x appears on each icon's upper-left corner.
  2. Tap the x on the Lexilinea icon, and then select Delete.

WARNING: This will remove all game information on your device, including scores, completed games, and games in progress. Do this only if you truly do not want the game on your device. If you are simply planning to update the game, follow the UPDATE instructions.

  1. Click the HOME button to cancel the "wiggle" mode.

On iTunes

  1. Connect the iPhone/iPod Touch to your computer with your device's USB cable.
  2. Open and log on to your iTunes software.
  3. On the left, under Library, select your device name. Any apps that have been installed at any time are listed. Those that are currently installed are checked.
  4. Find Lexilinea in the list, and un-check it.
  5. On the bottom right of the screen, select the Sync button (you might need to scroll down to see it). Allow the device to fully sync before disconnecting it from your computer.

 

 

Playing Lexilinea

How do I play Lexilinea?

Please refer to the game tutorial — tap the help tile on the top-left of the opening screen.

How do I change my Lexilinea sound and other settings?

You have to be playing a game, then tap the at the bottom right of the screen to change settings.

How do I save my progress in the game?

Your progress is saved automatically.

When can I send a score to Game Center?

You can send a score when a game is finished; you will see a screen that allows you to interact with Game Center and perform other tasks. Each game is composed of numerous rounds, so finishing a single round is not the same as finishing a game.

Do I have to play the games in order?

No, skipping around is fine.  Tap Pause Game to pause the current game and (optionally) switch to another.  

Games that you have started, but not finished, have this icon in the game list.

 Do I have to use Game Center?

No, but the bonus game is unlocked based on achievements tracked by Game Center. If you do not submit scores to Game Center, you will get the bonus game automatically only after you have finished all other Lexilinea games.

What if I want to submit a score to Game Center but don't have an Internet connection?

You can play the game offline, and upload your results any time after finishing by tapping the completed game on the game list.

I share the device with someone else, can both people play? 

Yes, but don't play the same game at the same time if you want to post your scores to your respective Game Center accounts. (One person can finish a game, reset it, then the other person can play.)

If you plan to upload your scores to Game Center, the person about to play should use the Apple Game Center app to ensure that they are the currently logged-in player before starting Lexilinea.

How do I undo a typing error made while entering a guess?

Shake the device... when you finish shaking, the mistaken letter should "bounce" with a click and become available on the keyboard.

WARNING: If you use this option too many times in the same round,
you will lose points (this is to deter cheating).

 

 

Problems With Lexilinea

Lexilinea crashes when I start it

Try the following:

  • Restart the game.
  • Install any available updates to the game.
  • Try turning your device off, then on:
    Press and hold the SLEEP/WAKE button for a few seconds until a red slider appears. Drag the slider, then press and hold the SLEEP/WAKE button again until the Apple logo appears on the screen.
  • Try resetting your device:
    At the same time, press and hold both the SLEEP/WAKE button and the HOME button for about 10 seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

The sound has disappeared from my game, how do I get it back? How do I turn it off?

Try the following:

  • Change the game settings.
  • Check the device volume settings.
  • On an iPhone, make sure the ringer is not silenced.

I would like a refund for Lexilinea.

Because Lexilinea is sold through iTunes, you will need to contact Apple directly for a refund.

My scores are not syncing with Game Center, what can I do?

Your score is stored on your device. If you do not currently have a network connection, wait until you do and try uploading the score then.
